Red light Camera on Punt Road

This article is the first of a long series. You’re about to read a formidable part of my life. It all started on 3 June at 9:30pm.

Life is all about timing. One second too late and you’ll miss a good night with a friend, the woman of your life or your tram. And as Life is well balanced, the opposite is true. On Wednesday 3 June, I leave the office after working overtime. It’s 9:15pm. It’s winter and the streets are very dark. I am heading home on my pushbike using the same way I usually take. Luckily, it was not raining on that day. I’m almost there. 300 more metres and I’m home. I’m on Barkly St, very close to the Carlisle St crossing. I m look ahead, then left, and right. All clear. In front of me, there is no car either. I cross the intersection. Suddenly, time slows down. Coming toward me, from the other side of the road, a car is less than a meter from me. I think: “He’s going to stop”. A second later, there is only 30cm between the car and me. All I can see is the car’s black and dusty bumper. my muscles tighten up so that my body become hard as a rock. I don’t have enough time to think “Shit !”. It’s already too late
